The plane ride through Atlanta is almost always hectic. In all my trips through Atlanta I have never landed and connected in the same terminal, always a tram ride. I had plenty of time in between connections so it was pleasant on this trip, going and coming back.
I picked up my bag and Angela picked me up on the curb in Jacksonville. Great personal service that is always ready before I arrive, she makes my travel as easy as possible. We drove to her home, picked up John John, Weston, and Bennett and headed for The Mellow Mushroom Pizza place. It was the beginning of a wonderful 10 day visit in Florida.
During my stay, I went trick-or-treating in a golf cart, attended a Jaguars home game, and ate some of the freshest flounder and shrimp I have ever eaten. In between Rosa (their caretaker) and I taking and picking up the two older boys at school, I spent a lot of time with a four year old again. As always, like when they came to stay with Cheryl and I in Greensboro, the kids remind me of things I had forgotten or they teach me things I never knew.
1. If you have been caught in the act of doing something you shouldn't be doing, simply look your grandparent straight in the face and say, "I didn't do nothing"
2. Follow that up with a very sincere, "I love you Poppy"
3. When a grandparent tells you to turn off the U-Tube channel you are watching, it's OK to bring up the same channel on your I pad underneath your blanket on your bed.
4. When your brothers don't let you play with them, fake an injury and run toward your parents pretending to be mortally injured.
5. It's ok to go everywhere barefooted, shoes are optional.
6. It's ok to wear only one sock when you do wear your shoes.
7. Grandparents are very fond of big hugs and little guys sitting in your lap.
8. All 3 remember how to give the horned frog sign with their hand. (not to take away from Bama)
9. Dinosaurs and Marvel super heroes have replaced Paw Patrol and Disney characters for two of the three. Little guys still love Mickey and company.
10. "Poppy, I love you" still trumps any play on the table.
